In response to the blog: "it is about Tango"

In the blog http://nastynest.blogspot.com/ are shown very amazing Tango's videos, extraordinary links to give you an easy access to the most recognize writers and singers of the genre and a quick access to some interesting Tango's sites. However, what it really captivated me were the masterpieces of the formidable bandeonist "Astor Piazzolla" who has revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style named Nuevo Tango, adding new genres as Jazz and classical music to this.

Piazzola's orchestra is just magnificent, when I first saw this three videos on this blog: "Chin Chin (Live in Montreal 1984)", "Muerte del Ángel" and "Adiós Nonino", I was extremely intrigued not only by the fantastic musical instrument of bandoneon but most importantly, by the incredible several musical instrument that are played in the three songs as the violin, guitar, piano and bass. I have barely heard from this gentleman before among my Argentinians friends, but now, I am very impressed by how he executes at least these masterpieces along with his colleagues.

In this precise instant, I feel the necessity and have the enormous curiosity in search more about this composer, as I am assuming that probably the blog did a great job in finding the best songs of his Orchestra through You tube, for no other purpose than strongly capturing any kind of audience by showing the best of an artist, and you know what, whoever created this blog, he really got me!!!.

I am just looking forward to learn more about this artist, either by this website that actually offers a link of the great Piazzolla or by my own research, I believe, the mixture of the "Nuevo Tango" created by Piazzolla and his Orchestra will be another passionate reason to continue to love the dance of love: "Tango"

So... Will you dare to dance Tango?

After I invited, attracted and incited you guys to start dancing and felling the passion that Tango has for every kind of people; and more significantly, after getting some interesting comments regarding the curiosity of knowing and learning something related with "the sexiest form of dance" as Jackie defined it, the interest of trying it, as Morenita stated:"I would love to try it someday, but it seems kind of hard" and Daniel sadly reporting a bad experience with the dance back in High School but with firm intentions to give it a try; I feel extremely happy and committed to invite you to the next class in San Mateo College which is next Friday at 7 p.m.

If you guys come, I am 100% sure, the dance will prove to be sexy, provocative and possibly addictive.
It will also show you folks that, if there is some sense of insecurity, (as I experienced in the first day) it will go away nicely with the instruction and advices from the well-prepared and passionate Tango's teacher (Ken Delmar) and you guys will immediately be identified with Tango in every step you take and every breath your partner takes away from you.

That being said, please let me know if you guys are coming on Friday, so I can give more details and inform the teacher with anticipation.

Tango Tips!!!

Howdy People. Finally, as a promised before, I've got some interesting tips to get started.

1. Listen to the music and try to follow the beat and the rhythm. The Tango is generally a slow dance and movements should be smooth and unhurried. Try to finish each step at the end of the beat so that the next step can commence immediately, thereby giving the dance the smooth characteristic required.

2. Listen to the music and try to follow the beat and the rhythm. The Tango is generally a slow dance and movements should be smooth and unhurried. Try to finish each step at the end of the beat so that the next step can commence immediately, thereby giving the dance the smooth characteristic required.

3. Both partners should maintain good body posture at all times. The Tango is an upright dance; keep the body straight, the head up, the shoulders and elbows down and the man’s left arm back. Maintain tension throughout the body, do not be too relaxed.

4. Do not just execute the steps. Dance with energy and style. Try to add some emotion; men, be bold; ladies, be playful, suggestive or seductive. Use some imagination; remember, the Tango is more than just a dance.

Let me now define what I consider the 'basics" of the "sexiest form of dance on earth" as Jackie stated.

  • The Tango “walk”
  • Leading and following
  • Rhythmic movement
  • Floor craft

Do you guys want to dare to dance it? Fantastic... as the nike commercial goes "Put your shoes on, take a deep breath and JUST DO IT.

Origins of Tango

Hi there folks, in this section let me introduce a few facts that took place throughout the history of tango. I deeply believe that in order for you guys to start getting that warm, addictive and sensual feeling that this dance highly offers for everyone, we should begin to know of the richness and heritage from generations all over the world.

Both the music and the dance have indirect influences from the African candombe, the Cuban Havanera, the Andalusian tango, the chotis and the cuplé, added to regional music and popular lyrics.

For researches, it has been almost impossible to determine the starting year of Tango, however; most experts coincide that Buenos Aires, during the decade of 1880 marked the opening point of the music and the dance. In those years there was a proliferation of brothels in Buenos Aires, mostly sustained by immigrant women from Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Poland, whose clientele were also immigrants that had left their families and wives in search of new opportunities. In addition to the above idea, you guys could understand that because Tango was born in inappropriate places, Tango could have some sense of vulgarity and lack of education. But dont be fooled!!!, those places gave Tango elegance and a nice vigorous aspect.

Tango is said to have been born in Buenos Aires, on the shores of the Riachuelo; in brothels and in impoverished neighborhood squats of southern Buenos Aires. The social class in which it developed was a mixture of regional people and immigrants made up by sailors, craftsmen and working class people.

So now folks, you are a little bit more familiarize with the dance of Love, next I will give some tips to even start dancing Tango and of course if you are in the mood to dance, I will also post the upcoming Tango Classes.

Let me then leave you folks with my teacher's advice so you can join the class SOON:

Tango has nothing less to offer than a lifetime of joy. I've seen so many uncoordinated, (even awkward), people become wonderful dancers that everybody wants to dance with. Don't worry! Just dance!"

PD: There is a Tango Lesson at 7 p.m. today at the gym in San Mateo College. I am looking forward to see you there.

Through this blog, you will know the origins of tango, how it spread out, its philosophy and plenty of tips to keep those feet moving elegantly . I will also keep you informed of the upcoming Tango events (milongas) and even the location where tango classes are currently taking place in the Bay Area, for no other purpose than to get you into the world of the dance of LOVE.

So if you are in the mood of listening while you are dancing, the most fascinating voice of Tango: "Carlos Gardel," a music that touches the deepest side of your heart and most importantly, if your desire is always that of being embraced by your friend, girlfriend, boyfriend or lover, this is the perfect dance to make that come true.

Ultimately, I must to warn those who dare to try it, because most of the times Tango could become addictive (I already experienced it); as Tango is more than a dance, is an obssesion.

"Dancing tango is the private exchange of trust and surrender between the leader and the follower. It is the interpretation of the music and the moment, expressed together trough the poetry and dance." By Ken Delmar.
